had a similar situation, she didnt lie about it because she was with her mother. My middle daughter was backing into a parking spot in the winter, pushed the gas a bit too hard, slipped on the snow and broke an 8 yr old pear tree right at the bottom, it snapped like a twig because of the cold. No damage to the car,but I was pissed about the tree
