ford OWNS mazda, and was making a lot of their products before they fully owned them. if you look at the ford/mazda lineup, they share some of the same models, and a lot of the vehicles share similar equipment. i used to sell at a ford/mazda dealership.
the only mazdas that don't really directly correspond with a ford product are the protege, mellenia, miata and 626/6. i haven't gotten a clost look at the 6 though, so it might be a lot of ford stuff too. oh, the rx8, i don't know anything about that either. but, even some of the "mazda" lines run a lot of ford stuff.
