Oh No Another .XXX Thread!

Firstly, from the ICM Stuart Twatley website thingie:

http://www.icmregistry.com/about/faq.php#1

Hmmm:

Quote:
It will work alongside the other existing ICANN accredited TLD?s such as .com, .net, .org etc and offers significant benefits and advantages to both provider and consumer.
And:

Quote:
6. Do I need to give up my other adult domains in other TLD?s such as .com?
No, .XXX is a purely voluntary domain and you can continue to use your other existing domains . We expect, over time that .XXX will become the preferred domain name of choice by both the consumer and provider of online adult entertainment.
So, you can keep other tld's.

Well fuck me, crisis averted then.

Except, only google or governments could still fuck this one up.

But if you can keep other tld's then some carefully crafted 301 redirect love will mean you can avoid this too if push comes to shove.

About boycotting .XXX - yes, it has already been pointed out that folks are gonna buy these domains anyways, so boycotting the purchase of them won't work.

BUT something perhaps more powerful that affiliates can do is thus: Simply stop promoting any sponor/program that moves to .XXX.

Just drop all motherfucking links. Simples. They lose the affiliate portion of the sales PLUS they get a massive drop in rankings overnight.

Punish any programs that convert to .XXX and they'll soon come back to .COM. It's the only way affiliates can fight back.

AND don't just drop those links, redirect them to a competitor that is sticking with .COM's, and give them a boost for being "friends of affiliates"

A small but incremental effect...
