In the REAL world, 'leftists' as you call them, are extremely unhappy with the continuation of the national security state, and a lot of them are outraged over the bombings in Libya. The only democrats defending most of the policies you seem to be determined to gloat over are middle of the road DNC type democrats, NOT the democratic base. The election of Obama was an attempt to get rid of those guys in the first place, they're just republican-lite. If you ever read anything that wasn't custom made with the content you expect and need to see to continue your existence in conservative fantasy land, you would already know that.
