After two decades of fits and starts on the continent, and a disjointed product lineup sometimes ill-suited to local tastes, it looks as though Cadillac is finally gaining favor with Europe’s automotive press. The CTS Coupe All-Wheel-Drive has won German car magazine AutoBild Allrad’s Import Coupe Car of the Year award.
Wolfgang Schubert, managing director of Cadillac Europe, commented, “I am very happy to see that the new presence of Cadillac on the European marketplace has been noticed and appreciated.”
Among the other contenders for the award were the Nissan GT-R, Lamborghini Gallardo, Bentley Continental GT and Alfa Romeo Brera Q4.
More than 40 percent of all Cadillacs sold in Europe are equipped with AWD. In snow-prone countries such as Switzerland and Austria, sales of AWD models make up more than 70 percent of total Cadillac sales.
