You all are forgetting 50% taxes in Canada, plus Montreal is an ice box in the winter and hot as hell in the summer, so be prepared to pay utilities of $1000/mo. on top of your rent. Living expenses overall are very expensive, from groceries (add 30% to US prices) to gasoline ($5/gallon) to car insurance ($2k+ a year). Really $48k is maybe enough to live on, but not a great life. The city is also a Hatian and Lebonese hell hole.

Hope you aren't a smoker or drinker because cigarettes are $10+ a pack and alcohol is double the price in the US.
