Who in the fuck comes up to you and says, "Hey man, what is your birth country?". I'm almost 40 and I can't recall a single person ever asking me that. They ask where I'm from, where I was born, what's my nationality. No one has EVER asked me my home country or birth country. To me, home country means the exact same thing as birth country.

No they don't. Are, "Where are you from?" and "What's your hometown?" two different things? Nope. It's only different when you want them to be different and when it suits your needs. Different words, same meaning.
