Porn WAS recession proof when people had to pay for it. I've worked in this business through many recessions and they alway had little effect.

Now porn is so widely available for free and free is often better than paying for it the recession is just one reason people don't pay for it. If piracy was stopped today all the people pirating would go to Tube sites.

The notion that all of a sudden they would all start buying again is so wrong it beggars belief.

Free = Enjoy when you want to, no 30 day membership. No chance of getting ripped off. No chance of spending for crap porn. No chance of signing up to a site with only 30 scenes in. A very wide selection from different studios, different models and different shooters. Switch from 1 niche to another. If you don't like Pornhub today, go look on Slutboat or 1 of the dozens of others.

Paid = HD

Look at the % of people hitting your site. 0.05% ish. If piracy stopped. How many people were looking at a TGP before 1 clicked the "Buy Now" or "See More" link?

10, 20, 50? On The Hun it was possible to grind a server to a halt or cost more in BW than the return brought. Because of all the surfers enjoying free porn. So actually the real ratio was 1-5,000 or even 1-25,000 of surfers consuming porn to 1 buying.

Now compare that to ratios on a tube. Some videos get 1/2 million views. How many of them go look for the site, how many actually buy?

We spent a fortune teaching people not to buy and now pray that they will have to again.

It ain't going to happen, live with it. We made our beds and now we have to lie in them.
