I emphasize SUSTAINABLE because, yeah, it's certainly possible to get in great shape by going on some hardcore diet and doing a complex exercise regimen for a few months, but that will usually lead to burn out unless you've been doing it for so long and don't know any different.
Just shoot for 30 grams of soluble fiber and 20 minutes of HIIT every day and everything else will fall into place. The HIIT speeds your metabolism and fiber is filling, which means it's likely that you will not WANT to overeat while your body is simultaneously burning calories at a rate much greater than usual. The exercise also improves your focus and, from a psychological standpoint, it's much easier to be on a 'diet' where the goal is to eat more of something rather than to eat less of something.

i'm interested in more about this. 30g of fiber isn't necc. that much but it is more than the ave american gets. but it's my understanding weight loss is very simple- consume less energy (calories) than you expend. for people who are ~>15% bodyfat the best way to do that is to cut cals, exercise is secondary if weight loss is the only goal.
<15% will require exercise of some sort to help with the final stubborn fat pounds.
