As for banning guns ... wouldn't make a difference. There have been incidents where a single person killed many people using nothing more than a knife.
And then there of course are explosives - a tried and true method that dates back ages. Examples...

Availability of guns, knives, explosives, etc doesn't get to the root of the problem, which is it ultimately takes people to create violence.
