Given the UK paranoia about the US UK relationship, it would be my bet the minute someone even hints they want to be POTUS that MI6 are all over their background and reporting back to Downing street. You can bet other countries would do the same.
If there was much fishy about the legitimacy of his candidacy I am sure we would have heard about it long before the presidential elections.
