True dat.
A few months back I had been having an issue with high blood pressure since the tail end of last year. In Jan, I went to the DR's to have blood work done. Around that same time, I decided it was time to change my diet. So I started reading.
I picked up a few different books and completely changed my diet. I cut the daily Diet Coke's in half (sodium). My blood pressure dropped back into the norm with two weeks. Additionally, all of my stomach problems disappeared. I had been taking Prilosec OTC on and off for years. I have not had to take it since.
I cut out almost all of the processed frozen dinners and meals and instead started cooking fresh everything. I also started cooking almost every meal. When I did eat something ready to go, it was something like Veg Beef soup or something still remotely healthy.
In 6 weeks between DR's visits I dropped 12 lbs. without doing anything other than a diet/lifestyle change. So no exercise, just diet. What was funny was, I was eating and drinking 2-3 times more than I did previously in VOLUME of food/liquid. Yet I was still losing weight.
I picked up another decent book I have enjoyed cooking meals from, and also added in smoothies. There is no way in hell I would ever get Omega3 or fruits/veggies in my diet the way recommended. I do not like fish, nor fruits. This way, with two smoothies per day, I have now managed to get in the daily allotment of fruits and veggies.
Additionally, with the smoothies (while I do not care for them in general) they help to keep you feeling full. Something to do with soluble and insoluble fiber. It slows down your digestion or helps keep you full. Which becomes helpful during the middle of the morning, and afternoon when I used to always snack on complete shit and was never feeling full.
I still do slide in an occasional sugary treat now and then. But not on a daily basis. I also eat out once a week with the GF at a decent restaurant which I am sure is a 1200-1500 calorie undertaking. However, I am still losing around 2 lbs a week.
In the past two weeks, I have also added in some light walking and weight training to tighten things up. You start noticing a bit of pep in your step, and what not. I have dropped two pant sized in Feb-April just by change in diet. I do not drink booze even on the weekends and haven't for years, nor eat a lot of sugary treats. I do not even keep sugary shit in the house. If I want it, I have to make a special trip. Even then, I do not buy a package. I buy one at a time.
I still have a ways to go before I am happy. But stick with it
BROhem.
