To be honest, most losses are down to insurance with big businesses. The amount of wastage in large firms, especially food firms is disgusting! The losses due to breakages & rotten food is far worse than the amount that is stolen
I personally believe that shoplifting is a wrong, due to the old saying of robin hood, rob from the rich to give to the poor. A working man, even someone as rich as Richard Branson is still a man, working for his money, he is still poor compared to a goverment. Although, looking at the goverments these days, it looks like were all poor & fucked
