I'm European. Which means I have been heavily exposed to dance music since about the same time that Snoop took up a mike. It's one thing i've always noticed about the US, how their proper dance tunes are what we were listening to 10 years ago. The best thing about deadmau5 is that he's new current, and really really popular. To be honest I've always thought he sounds like boys noize, a german dj most americans wouldn't know.
The problem with the US is that hip hop is everywhere. Too, too much in fact. Hip hop in general is ok, but really it doesn't compare. You should check out some of the electroclash stuff that came out about 4 or 5 years ago. A belgian band called Goose stick out.
