The days of oh I don't know how these computer things work is past. Learn to be responsible with your wifi and computer or prepare for the consequences like you do when you drive, fly or anything else.
Agreed. The IP address should just be an indication to who pirated content. From there it should be to court and seizure of the households computers to establish innocence or guilt.

And it should be multiple downloads, not just one individual download.

If the owner of the IP address is guilty then they should be sued to the hilt.

Suing IP addresses isn't the answer to piracy. It's a way for some victims to get back at the perpetrators.

The way to bring down piracy is to stop companies advertising or profiting from their sites. Make Paypal liable for processing for piracy, make AFF liable for advertising on a piracy site. This brings the vast majority of pirating sites or those profiting from piracy to a different financing level.

Less money for the pirate site, less pirates.

It would need a judge to establish in court that a site is a piracy site or aids piracy and te company profits from the site. Then damages will follow.

Will it happen? Not so long as sites like Youtube exist.

If your car is involved in an accident and you say to the police it was stolen at the time. You have to prove it.
