i've happened to work in news as well and its all about the sales, the picture sales, the newsfeed sales, the serial feed news alerts, the advert slot sales, the news happens because adverts are sold.
apart from the poor muppets in the field that think its the news that moves the markets etc
News is entertainment, not the same as a film or a jack bauer, but the great saying was isnt it so fantastic that there is just enough news every day to just fill a newspaper
