Hmmm, you have got me thinking now...
Changing 20-30% of the water once per week will help to keep algae down, as will limiting the light to 8 hours per day for regular tanks or 10 hours per day for tanks with live plants.

You WILL get some algae, however, and with the small enclosed tank, it only makes it that more difficult to deal with. The smaller the tank, the faster ANY kind of problem will happen whether that's algae build up, heat, fish waste buildup, etc.
