Sam is right in that smart phone building is the way forward given that it is clearly the future. However from an ad network perspective we get sight of a lot of a heck of a lot of sites and traffic.
We serve our networks ads on mobile sites and our clients pay a CPC. Non smartphone (feature phone) makes up only around 10-15% of a sites traffic however it can make make up to 3 or 4 times more CPC.
This is because for those with the ability to convert this traffic (i.e with a one click billing solution) it is very valuable as the ratios are mental.
i would say dont discard the idea of building for feature phones if you intend to have a paid for product or if you nintend to run ads as the conversion are much higher.
