no, you are right. i've been on a intermittent fasting plan, everyday i do a 16 hour fast then for 8 hours i can eat pretty much what i want, keeping an eye on total cals, of course. it works well, i gained some lean body weight with very little fat gain, like ~1.5 lbs. there is a lot of solid research on the benefits of fasting.
i only had 2 beers over this time, they were big beers though! like a pint+
