I'm not sure what the dad means by "it didn't teach her the right thing." What "right thing" is he looking for? The "right thing" is not expecting a reward, the "right thing" is turning it in.
Though yes, she probably should have been given a reward since the money was not claimed. Probably drug money, LOL.
