because having 10's of thousands of dead accounts slows down the admin process.
Its silly to be a member of "hundreds" of affiliate programs and I doubt very seriously (and so do your sponsors) that you'll push them hard in the future.
This isn't a personal attack, its just the way it is.
I've often thought of purging our system of inactive accounts.
