In the NASCAR race the #88 team had calculated their fuel milage to be just a few laps short so the driver tried to save as much fuel as he could. They had to make a choice. Come in to the pits for a splash of gas that would've dropped him back in the field with no chance of winning or taking a chance at the win by staying out on the track. As it turned out he was just short about the length of the front straight from winning and still got a 7th place finish. Neither the crew chief or driver were mad with the decision not to pit for gas. They were disappointed because they missed it by such a narrow margin. It also made for a great finish.
BTW, that JR. guy made an estimated 29 million USD last year but was probably much more because not all of his income has been made public.
Not a bad paycheck doing what you want in life.
I'd think anyone that can accomplish that would have to be talented or smart or both.
