A registrar is like a bank... you don't use them much, but when you need them, you NEED them!
One of my domains actually expired a couple of hours after I started this thread - I was going to renew it last thing before I went to bed. Luckily Moniker doesn't charge any extortion fees for expired domains like other registrars too. It's back up now.
