I do content removal as a labor of love for my clients, many of which are people I've known for years and years. I don't want to be doing this three years from now. One of my clients asked me "you realize if you're really good at this, you'll put yourself out of a job?" My response: "That would be awesome."

I know Eric @ RYC is a true-believer in the good fight as well, neither one of our companies is in this to get wealthy.

And to your "would they do it for free" question, well yes and no. There are plenty of people I've helped out for free. However, what I do is a 16 hour day, I'd be an idiot not to charge people a reasonable rate for my time and effort. Studios can always decide to do it in-house but my clients are glad to pay my rate because it makes more sense for them.

But I know both Eric and I have helped each other when we find content from each other's clients and we've worked together on certain sites where we can work combine our efforts. There are certainly companies that are in this to bilk studios out of money and are in bed with the content thieves - RemoveYourContent and TakedownPiracy are not among them.
