Many dealers are sick of dealing with the hard ass that threatens to leave.
Sometimes you need to play the other role to get it done. Get him excited, get him thinking your going to sign and when it comes down to it, low ball his ass. Keep telling him you love the car, this is all you can afford etc....
He goes back to manager. Comes back with another price. Tell him you cant do it but dont see yourself in anything else. Come up a little on price and write a note "i will buy this car right now for $X,XXX" give him the down payment or the cash and ask the sales guy to try harder with the manager.
