Just back from Vancouver.. Congrats Vancouver...NOTHING HAS CHANGED
So here I am at Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Canadian national anthem is being sung and in unison over 18,000 Canadian hockey fans are singing along as one clebrating their team ,thier city, thier country. It was breath taking....THEN there are 18,000 fans.. booing as loud as humanly possible as Gary Bettman trys to present the Conn Smythe trophy and then the Stanley Cup. Booing every player from Boston that hoists the Cup. Oh yeah did I mention the 40 or 50 beers, soda and water bottles that were tossed on to the ice hiiting players . One large soda hit a cameraman as he was shooting the Cup being presented to Chara. I mean hit him dead on and sprayed soda everywhere ..including the holy grail itself. I saw THE CUP geyt hit twice with waterbottles.
Oh yeah it gets worse..then came the fires and the riots. The beatings and the stabbings. The idiots throwing debris at the police line. Tear gas and explosions everywhere. The city was on fire and my ass was caught right in the middle and was lucky to find a hotel close by. I watched as they looted many stores, burned cars , one guy even burned a Canadian flag.
Vancouver fans, you are a bunch of asshats and may the hockey gods NEVER EVER reward you with a CUP. To the few who had nothing to do with it I feel sorry for you.
Your team, your city and your country has been embarrassed beyond belief. See you in another 15 years or so next time you grobble into the finals.
