UK Radio and regulation is hardly the center of the universe.
Maybe you UK folks should be more concerned about your government building an Info Firewall to "Protect you". Broadcasting is regional, The Internet is boundless.
Censorship on the internet will never happen, they can try and try...
I do think the next several years will reveal governments and there pseudo/quasi organizations will begin attempts to control content and begin pushing regulation on the web.
Again though...
It is futile, but it will not stop them from attempting another "Great FireWall Of China".
You can look at China and its firewall. Its a failure and a joke.
If governments can press the public to regulated channels on the internet I am pretty sure that would impress even god himself. It's just simply to much noise and these funny little groups are a wasted effort.
Making new laws regarding content is the only weak spot the internet faces but even then makes no difference. The internet is still the largest distributor of Kiddie Porn, Drugs, Fake drugs, prostitution, gambling, terrorism and the black markets. If governments have not been able to halt these activities online there is no possible future they ever will.
