Killing the witch was giving her what she deserved, but yes it may have also had to do with the life-for-a-life payment thing as well (as she said earlier).
Her husband was 'reborn' a vegetable because she (the girl) didn't specify that she wanted him back as he was, she only asked for him to be alive. The witch needed a life as payment, and seemed to make it clear that killing his horse would be enough, but then later it came about that it was her unborn son that was the life to be taken as payment.
SO... she (the girl) was suitably pissed about the witch's play on words and not delivering her husband back to her in his original state, PLUS the fact that she had to lose her son in the bargain, that was enough to send the old bitch into the flames.
And I kind of suspected that it was going to take a long hot fire to wake up those dragon eggs but wasn't sure until now. With dragons at her side I hazard a guess in S2 she's going to be kicking ass and taking names. Can't wait.
