Of course it wasn't right. But the only reason they called what he did "war
crimes" is because he lost. The soviets raped and pillaged their way through Poland etc, but they won so what they did weren't
crimes 
Personally I don't care if something's legal or not: If it's an act of injustice, it's wrong. period.
