Then there's vehicle type. Yes, absolutely driving 130mph in a Honda Civic is unsafe. And that's probably most people's point of reference... leading them to believe that ANY vehicle is unsafe at 130mph.
Not to mention the other factors nobody seems to take into account; tire width, tire profile, tire tread, suspension (IRS versus solid axle?), weight of the vehicle, front / rear weight ratio.
What people fail to realize is that in good conditions, driving 130mph in a Porsche GT3 can be perfectly safe and perfectly reasonable. Only if you're driving outside of what's safe for the conditions does it become something that shouldn't be done.
The public doesn't seem to understand anything besides "the law is the law, and the speed limit is the speed limit" etc.

The fault here wasn't the car or the speed. It was driver error, period. The same thing happens with the wealthy and airplanes. Just because you can buy it doesn't mean you can drive/fly it.
