I also agree with you that the .xxx will be a fail and even more if Google goes along and handles it as a 2nd or 3rd level tld.
I'm still convinced that at one point in time all search engines will exclude .xxx domains or filter them out of strict and moderate search, while now with the filtering a lot of adult websites get through.
