I have been wanting to make a personal comment to to NALEM, kind of an insight. But first a cool story
I like watching NASCAR, I love the sport and will be in front of my TV for a few hours tonight watching the race. There is a driver there that I have liked for several years named Mark Martin. He is not my favorite driver but one I have always liked watching. Last year or the year before he picked up a new sponsor... godaddy.
I really dislike godaddy and have for a very long time, I have seen their treatment of adult websites and I personally consider them to be a terrible company.
It is personal. So now, every time I see Mark's car all painted up green and black it pisses me off a little. Not a lot, that would be stupid since godaddy has zero effect on my life and racing is a spectator sport that I can choose to watch or not.
Just seeing that paint scheme on the car of a guy I respect irritates me and I resent his owner.... not that any of them really give two squirts of piss about godaddy and their business practices.
When I watched that video and the YNot Summit and I saw the guy sitting there with a blue shirt with the .XXX logo emblazoned on the back bigger than shit; the first thing I thought was 'damn, that is going to seriously piss people off'
guess what, I was right. If you wear that shirt then you are going to take a truckload of shit from people who take .XXX very personally and there is not a damned thing you can do about it. The one thing you can be certain of is that people in this biz have a very long memory.
You're in this business to make money, I get that. However, you knew or should have known what the reaction from many would be when you pulled that shirt over your head and should not be even the slightest surprised by the reaction of many here. Yes there were people who did not care for you before you accepted ICM's sponsorship, but by accepting it you have put yourself in an unflattering spotlight to a huge segment of this industry and you're just going to have to accept it.
