They're Both Right!
Actually I find it mazing that the surface area of a sphere (like planet Earth) is
4 pi r^2
where r is the distance to the Center of the Earth.
the surface area of the CIRCLE is only
1 Pi r^2
It's like if you took 4 photos of Earth and added up the area of the 4 circles it equals the surface area of the whole planet... just bizarre in it's simplicity!
I should look into it's derivation one day so I can ponder this platonic mystery!
i.e. 4 surface areas of the CIRCLE = the total ocean + land area!
why EXACTLY 4?
