I was under the impression that if you use whole fruit/veg and blend them into the smoothie drink that you're still getting the relevant nutrients and benefits from the fruit/veg itself, since you're using all of the fruit/veg and not cooking it in any way.

Of course, I'm not a nutritionist, nor am I trained in any way as such. I base my knowledge on what I've read, and of course what I've read may have been misinformed.

So are you saying that by drinking smoothies consisting of fruits and vegetables each day, I'm not actually getting my '5 daily servings' I'm supposed to get each day, even if I'm using the equivalent amount of fruit and veg in the smoothie itself?

I wouldn't have thought the nutrients/benefits would degrade simply from being pureed.. ?
