I've been saying the same for a very long time. Not just about online porn, but also offline porn as far as videos are concerned.
The reason is simple. Over production and under funding.
When the video industry went to loading the shelves with more and more titles, they thought it would lead to more revenue. It didn't but the dye was cast and they kept increasing the numbers hoping it would work. The problem is the numbers bought didn't increase at the same rate as the numbers produced. So every title sold less.
Online porn decided anyone with a camera and naked girl could shoot porn, which was clearly wrong. They said the porn consumer was tired of buying dull porn valley type scenes. The truth was they wouldn't or couldn't afford to shoot anything better.
Many of the so called "Amateur" scenes were true in the sense that the shooter was an amateur and the model professional.
Prices paid for custom work were derisory and no decent shooter would work for online porn, unless his own site. Many sites paid $1500 for 5 solo girl scenes, set and video. No girl can deliver 5 good scenes in a day. No good shooter will work for that. The same applies to GG and BG.
So it was content just churned out with models going through their usual routine and the orgasms were as real as Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy.
Those who tried to change this were shot down, as it meant spending more on content.
I remember fondly the days when a girl on a porn shoot actually had a good fucking time. LOL
