The FCC has voted to change media ownership rules which, among other changes, relaxes limits on "cross-ownership" of newspapers and broadcast stations in the same area.
This scares tha absolute fuck out of me. The idea of News Corp (murdock), AOL Time Warner (Turner, Case), GE, Microsoft and Viacom owning a massive proportion of the WORLD media is really really gay.
Isn't it funny that we haven't seen more of the on TV news and affairs programming? This proves, in point, why mass media ownership is wrong and bad for everyone but the government and large corporate conglomerates. They have the power to hide or exaggerate stories.
While I feel Jesse Jackson can be a bit of an ass sometimes, I found this quote quite interesting;
"Today in Iraq, if the Shiites sought to own all the radio, TV and newspapers, we would say no."
Am I over reacting? Perhaps. I jut fear the day when we have 3 men controlling the news.
Imagine if Lensman controlled all the major adult webmaster boards (nb. I have nothing against Lens what-so-ever, Im just using it as an example). He could expliot his power to only promote ideas that directly benifit himself and his partners.
Anyhow, I should be working..so should you. Get back to it.
