Like I said, the prosecution fucked up.
Instead of going for murder one with only circumstantial evidence, they could have put her away for a long, long time with a truckload of child neglect charges along with failing to report a kidnapping (her alibi), interfering with a police investigation (with her lies) and so on.
Even OJ's jury would have convicted her of those charges.
An involuntary manslaughter charge would have been a slam dunk too, providing that they got a jury that could read without moving their lips.

And if their kids died as a result, most of those moms ended up serving long prison sentences (sometimes too long IMO) because they neglected them, not for 31 days, but for a matter of hours if not minutes.
