But we modern humans first appeared in north africa somewhere between 160k to 110k years ago, as far as we can tell now.

Neandertal, on the other hand, may have been truly european, evolved from the homo erectus line that migrated out of africa 1.8 to 1 million years ago.

We north africans took over their territory and liked it. Fewer parasites, and we had invented sewing.
