you don't want diets to last. dieting is inherently unhealthy. ideally, you want to be on an eating plan (diet) that provides you with all the macro and micro nutrients you require and withing the caloric window for your body.
i disagree with a lifestyle change somehow being easier than not. in fact, i advocate not looking at this sort of thing as a lifestyle change. lifestyle changes are bigtime difficult and the typical person stops trying to change their lifestyle after only 1 or 2 missteps.
