49. The Conservation Reserve program pays farmers $2 billion annually not to farm their land.[49]
This program IS needed, just not sure how much.
I own 80 acres and I am in the CRP program, I get around $1,100 a year, but my land taxes are around $800+ a year.
For as far as you can see around my land, it is all farmland.
The CRP helps with wildlife, and keeping the wind from blowing all the top soil away. (dust bowl)
