America needs to stop watching cable news because I don't think they understand the numbers. This applies to both sides.
If a cable news show has 1 million viewers, it's considered very popular and successful. So if you can cater to about 1 million people, you can steer the political debate in this country, a country with 300 million people. See how that's pretty much the opposite of democracy?
That's why all the political debate is just the fringes. The fringe weirdos are the most loyal viewers, so cable news goes after them and when the show gets popular, they end up steering the debate despite the fact that they are not anywhere near the majority.
I know everyone laughs at the demise of the newspaper and the evening news, but we are reaping the rewards of that now.
