8 dead in Ohio after family argument erupts in shooting
(NewsCore) - COPLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A gunman fatally shot seven people Sunday in northeastern Ohio before he was killed by police, WKYC-TV reported.
Police in Copley Township, Ohio -- about eight miles (13 kilometers) west of Akron -- said the incident began with a family argument. Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots at around 11:00am local time.
The gunman shot and killed five people, then went to another location and fatally shot two more people before he was killed by police, Copley Township Police Chief Michael Mier said. One of the victims was an 11-year-old child.
Another person was injured and taken to a local hospital. The victims' identities have not yet been released.
A SWAT team and police from nearby Akron, Bath and Fairlawn assisted Copley Township police in the incident.
