But you cannot remove it completely voluntarily
You cannot ask that their database remove all past information voluntarily
You cannot ensure that your information is not sold to third parties
You cannot ensure that your information is not shared with Government agencies
You cannot be assured that a potential employer cannot get access to your information
Government agencies and governments implement laws so that your private information remains private (Data Protection Act). You can ensure you are Private Directory on your telephone so that no outsiders can contact you without your permission, you cannot do that with Facebook, and what most people do not realise is that the information that is stored on there is not removed even when you think it has been deleted.
Furthermore, many people put information on there that is inappropriate because they are uneducated in the use of computers. So people put their addresses, telephone numbers, photographs, contact details on there and then your security is in the hands of inept programming.
