I got the extended warranty on my 2004 Viper when the factory warranty ran out. Saved me about $10,000, and ended up costing $4,300 for the warranty itself. When I sold the Viper, I cashed out $2,200 from the warranty -- so, for $2,100 over the life of the car, it saved me $10,000 or so. Not too shabby ... but I wouldn't get it on anything that cost less than $70k or so -- those kinds of cars are more disposable when something goes wrong.
