Hey Lloyd
Heathrow is the main airport in London, but is still a good hour on the train to the West.
Gatwick is about 30 minutes by train, although it is further away.
DO NOT GET A CAB!
I REPEAT DO NOT GET A CAB.
They will hear your accent and buttfuck you. ASACP Tim had a horrendous fare from Heathrow for the XBiz gathering a few months ago.
As for areas, depends. Central would probably be your best, yet most expensive option.
I like the Crown Plaza Hotel, it's fairly central and not too badly priced.
And learn how the underground works if you want to get around. It is safe clean and easy. Cabs are very expensive.
The big museums are all around South Kensington, which would be another nice area to stay. They are all free.
There is cool photo opps with the architecture in the City itself, which is a specific part of London.
Dunno about good sushi, but toptable.co.uk and

I recommend the cinnamon club, it's amazing.
If you want to try real Indian food instead of the version America seems to make, head for Brick Lane, in east London.
Oh, and remember coffee is paid for PER CUP, no bottomless stuff here.
If you want to come down to the countryside, I am 1.5 hours from London on the train and you would be more than welcome to stay. It is very pretty here. Green rolling hills and castles and stuff.
