The film was released in 2006, it's set in 2027.
In the plot of the movie it mentions
"The couple parted ways after their son died from a
flu pandemic in 2008."

In the real world we experienced the so-called Swine Flu Pandemic in 2009. i.e. just one year out from the movie plot.
A key part of the plot is this
"It is 2027 and no children have been born in the world for 18 years"

So no children have been born since 2009, one year after the plot's pandemic i.e after the vaccines have gone in. So you could read from this that the vaccines were received by all and caused fertility problems.
If we now move away from the plot and look at the real Swine Flu Vaccine, it is known to contain Polysorbate 80, which damages developing ovaries

However, fortunately the WHO failed and didn't manage to get enough people to receive it, they were very upset about this afterwards and blamed the Internet.
Seems to me like whoever wrote the plot of this film knew of the coming agenda.
