I'd say tanning is "metro sexual", which means it's gay unless you're in California.

Tanning does indeed ruin your skin, quickly making you look old and wrinkly. I have a female friend in her twenties who was really hot a few years ago. After a couple years of tanning, she looks like she's forty. Of course there's a serious risk of skin cancer. Hmm, look good today and have cancer tomorrow? Only if you're gay (aka Californian).
BUT marketsmart has a point, perhaps:

While searching for my one-in-a-million, I went on up to three dates per day. Once I got hot and heavy with three different women within twenty-four hours. When I was seriously dating, going out with a LOT of women, I did the Mystic Tan once or twice. If you are doing a full court press with the ladies I could see a tan as part of that.
P.S.
I am working to improve my grammar and punctuation, so feel free to point out any errors.
