Same applies to bills with utility companies or others. In theory they could go back and change a pastbill to show something in their favor. Since you have no legitimate paper copies, what proof will you have otherwise? It's good to always get a paper bill unless there is no chance of there ever being a dispute of some sort and the amount due is always fixed.
