I damaged part of my left index finger in a film splicing machine. I have about 7/8ths the width of a fingernail still. Luckily(?) the part that got me was also at about 300 degrees, so it hardly bled at all, it just cauterized instantly. And it was in a darkroom and the machine had me pinned there until it completed it's melting cycle. Few seconds in the pitch dark that seemed like much longer.
If the company had two nickels to rub together I might have sued.
