It's risky to rely on long term models with any company who hasn't demonstrated impeccable integrity. Even then you have no idea who they might sell to.

Pretty much this. If you are that peeved, get a lawyer and go after them for breach of contract. Possibly they needed to do this to keep the program alive. This isn't the "good old days" any more where programs have money falling out of their pockets.
